How do I uninstall RecImg Manager?

I installed RecImg Manager on a Win8.1 tablet, but although the install appeared to complete satisfactorily (the program runs OK), I can see no way of uninstalling it. There is no entry for RecImg Manager or Slimware in Control Panel / Programs and Features, and on checking the registry I see there is nothing associated with RecImg in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uni nstall, which is presumably why CP isn't picking it up.

I have rebooted a couple of times and tried an over-the-top reinstall from the Admin account but the uninstall routine still isn't registering. Is there some special process required to uninstall this program?

That is very, very strange. I just tested the public installer, but I was unable to reproduce this behavior. So you're saying that the only trace of the program on the computer is in Program Files? Can you do a search through the registry for "recimg" and report the paths that you find here?

There are numerous references to recimg in the registry (but none in the uninstall section). I found the following paths:-
    C:\Program Files\RecImg Manager\
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\RecImgManager\
    C:\Windows\system32\recimg.exe

Hope that is what you were asking for.

Thank you for that information steve-b but that's not quite what I was looking for. I was asking specifically for registry paths like you referenced here:

    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uni nstall

Going to bed now (I'm in the UK) so probably won't be looking at this again until around 1800 UTC (say 12 noon your time) tomorrow.

Are there any system restore points that indicate the installation of RecImg Manager? You could try removing RecImg Manager in that way. Otherwise, you will have to manually delete the programs installation files and the registry entries. Please note, "recimg.exe" in system32 is a Windows system file and should not be deleted.

Nothing helpful in System Restore, unfortunately - it is switched on, but the installation of RecImg Manager does not appear to have triggered a restore point. The previous restore point is a while back, and I would prefer not to use that if I can avoid it.

I understand your point about recimg.exe in \system32\ being part of Windows. There are two SlimWare folders in %LocalAppData% for the Admin account - \SlimWare Utilities, Inc\ and \SlimWare_Utilities,_Inc\ - presumably I'll have to delete those, as well as the Registry entries and the \RecImg Manager\ folder in Program Files. Is there anything else hidden away?

You will understand that having to through this process to uninstall RecImg Manager doesn't inspire confidence in the program.

You've listed all of the points of entry that the program makes. I would offer one final suggestion that you may try installing RecImg Manager on top of itself and see if it doesn't add an entry to the Add/Remove programs list. This is the first time I've personally encountered this behavior from the application.

I am sorry that you first experience with our software has not been a positive one.

I had already tried an over-the-top install, both from my standard account and logged in as Administrator, but I gave it one more go. No dice, I'm afraid, there is still no entry in CP/Programs and Features, and still no uninstall details in the registry.

I have now removed RecImg Manager manually by deleting the program and configuration files (including hidden files), removing the registry entries excluding those pointing to \system32\recimg.exe, and cleaning up the Start folder. The system seems stable, there is nothing nasty in Event Viewer after a cold boot and recimg.exe is working correctly from the command line, so I don't think I've broken anything. I'd rather not have to undertake that sort of tinkering too often, though. Thanks for your help, but I'll be sticking to the CLI for recimg!
