    Hello cgecge,

I am sorry to hear that you are having difficulties with remote desktop. I would suggest that while we look further into this issue that you use LogMeIn free services to perform any remote connections.

For starters, can you please post the SlimComputer logs for us to review. You can find the logs by launching SlimComputer, clicking on the Settings button and then clicking the Show Logs button. Please post logs that were created before and after the issue began.

After posting the requested logs, please do a system restore to restore to the point before this issue began. SlimComputer should have prompted you to create a restore point before performing any actions. You can access system restore in Windows 7 pro by...

    1) Click Start
    2) Type into the search field: system restore
    3) Press Enter

The system restore wizard will open and guide you through the restore process. Select a restore point that is dated before the start of the problem.

Looking forward to hearing from you..
    Thanks

Turn off windows firewall and check whether remote connection gets established. Alternatively, try establishing remote connection using various remote support tools such as logmeinrescue, gosupportnow, etc. and check whether it works or no. Alternatively, you can even deploy on premise remote support appliance such as RHUB appliances.
