This program may hang on shortcuts if it runs into a recursive shortcut on the computer. A recursive shortcut is a shortcut that points to itself. This will cause the program to get stuck in a loop. The only way to fix this is to change the path of the shortcut or to remove it entirely.

    Question Recursive shortcuts

How do you find the shortcuts that are creating the loop?

There isn't a way to automatically do this. You'll have to manually check the shortcuts for targets that point to themselves. You would do this by right-clicking the shortcut, selecting Properties and then checking the Target or Start in fields for entries that point to itself. For example, if you have a shortcut on the desktop called Shortcut it's path will be "C:\Users\"you"\Desktop\shortcut.lnk". If you open it's properties and find that the target is also "C:\Users\"you"\Desktop\shortcut.lnk" then it is recursive. It points to itself.
